Taipei 101 was the first large skyscraper that I had ever seen. As a young child I was fortunate enough to visit family in Taipei shortly after it's completion. Standing at 1,667' (505m), it was the first building to eclipse the half-kilometer mark. Hundreds of visitors per day are ferried from the 5th floor lobby to the 89th floor observatory in 37 seconds using elevators that set multiple records at the time of opening.
From it's post-modern bamboo inspired design to its innovative earthquake and typhoon-resistant engineering, Taipei 101 has remained a beacon of innovation in the Asian hemisphere. As of 2011, it was also crowned by LEED as the tallest and largest green building in the world, eclipsed only by the Shanghai world financial center in 2015.
Standing at an architectural height of 2,717' (828m), Burj Khalifa is the tallest man-made structure in history. Originally known as the Burj Dubai, it has played host to movie shoots (Mission Impossible 4),
Downloaded from a 3rd party, I modified it to scale correctly with my Taipei 101 model. At 28 inches tall and over 400g of material, it took over a day of printing to complete all three sections.
