Community has always been important to me. Whether it was my friends, my school, or the city around us, I was always looking for ways to get involved in making positive change.
In High School I joined the Red Jackets, a corps. of specifically chosen students at Coppell High School. We represented not only the Senior Graduating Class, but the School as a whole. We escorted guests around the school and maintained our academic/extracurricular performance to ensure that we represented the best that Coppell High School had to offer.
Entering the latter half of my College experience in 2017, I joined the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space. I had been a part of it as a participant for the first part of University, but after 2 years of sitting on the sidelines I wanted to join the ranks as someone making a difference.
Working with the existing members of leadership, I ran for election as Vice President and won. For the next 2.5 years I served alongside a group of incredible students who would go on to become some of my closest friends. We led the Texas A&M chapter of SEDS from being in the periphery of on-campus organizations to being a giant with over 200 active members and half a dozen events per semester. It was an incredible experience that led me to find my passion in space exploration outreach.
After University, I contended with COVID, building a career in Architecture, and generally finding my place in life. Among other things, my passion for space outreach was sadly put on the back-burner.
Then, in 2022, I learned about the NASA Solar System Ambassador program. Organized out of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, SSA is a netowrk of dedicated Volunteers around the country dedicating weekends and nights to talking about NASA and its incredible work.
Since being accepted for the 2023 class of SSAs, I am proud to say that I have hosted several presentations for my local community about various incredibly exciting projects that NASA has undertaken. It is with great pride that I will continue to share future missions with the public, hopefully garnering the same excitement that inspired me to take an interest in Space Exploration
